Carl Hinsman was born in Vermont and spent his childhood years growing up in Woodstock. His childhood interests included fishing local streams, swimming, boating, skiing, and drawing. His parents and grandparents were avid art collectors and the artist was greatly influenced by these paintings. As a result of this early influence, he has continued to draw and paint throughout his adult life.

 

Carl has also been creating professional illustrations since 1983 for clients including Yankee Magazine, Rock of Ages Memorials, Trow & Holden Stone Cutting Tools, and the University of Vermont. He was also a High School Science teacher, retiring in 2015.
